Natural disaster of magnitude 5.5 magnitude hits Uttarakhand, tremors felt in Delhi NCR

An quake measuring 5.0 on the richter scale having its epicenter in Uttarakhand struck today at 8:40pm.

In Uttarakhand, tremors were felt in Champawat, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Ramnagar, Tehri and Chamoli districts of the state.

The epicentre of the magnitude 5.5. quake was Rudraprayag district while its effects were also felt in adjoining districts such as US Nagar.

The tremors were felt for around 5 to 10 seconds.

The epicentre was Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).

There were no reports of loss of property or life. It falls in the Himalayan region.

According to TV reports, in Uttarakhand the magnitude recorded on the Richter scale is 5.5.

EMSC located the epicentre between the hill shrine of Kedarnath and the town of Pipalkoti in Uttarakhand.
