It has also put more attention on some ones that have existed for weeks. Coach Heupel will be formerly introduced by White and President John C. Hitt this afternoon at an introductory press conference at 2 p.m.at Spectrum Stadium. The Tigers improved from four wins in 2016 to 7-5 and will face Texas in the Texas Bowl later this month.

He served as quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator at Oklahoma from 2006 to 2014 before being let go at his alma mater, where he played quarterback on the Sooners' national championship team in 2000 and was the Heisman Trophy runner-up. That paved the way for Lincoln Riley to become offensive coordinator, and later coach, in Norman.

"Frankly, this doesn't really affect Drew's decision much at all", the quarterback's father, Andy Lock, told The Star. He could declare for the National Football League draft.

"There are special players coming back when you look at the roster".

"We've heard a lot of things from a lot of people", Andy Lock said.

Heupel, however, is looking forward to the task ahead. When Foster was committed to Missouri, he seemed tied to Heupel.

Also, Danny White's brother, Mike White is the current head coach of UF's basketball team so, that's a connection there as well. He is now committed to Tennessee, which is still searching for its coach after firing Butch Jones. Washington quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels, the younger brother of Missouri recruiting coordinator Austyn Carta-Samuels, recently got his release from the Huskies as a graduate transfer, and Missouri seems like a possible destination.

Shannon was head coach at University of Miami from 2007-2010 and was briefly interim head coach at University of Florida this season.

Word began to surface that a new head coach would be announced at a team meeting on Tuesday morning.

The elevation to the head-coaching job of an unbeaten team is a rapid transformation for Heupel, 39, whose career not long ago seemed to be going in the wrong direction.

Shortly after Heupel was named coach, he announced that he was bringing in Randy Shannon as his defensive coordinator.
