Vodafone and Indian smartphone maker Micromax today entered into a partnership to offer cashback of up to Rs. 2200 to their customers.

Micromax Bharat 5 is the device we are talking about. Bharat 5 sports a 5.2-inch HD IPS display, surrounded by usual bezels to accommodate capacitive navigation buttons below and front camera, proximity sensor and earpiece above. The smartphone comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of native storage. It says that the chipset has a 1.3GHz 64-bit quad core CPU from which we can deduce that the Micromax Bharat 5 has a MediaTek MTK6737 chipset which is found in plenty of other budget offerings. The smartphone bundles a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture with LED flash along with a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. On the front, it comes with another 5MP snapper. The phone will be available starting December 5 from offline stores across the country. Previously, the Indian brand has launched its Bharat 3 and Bharat 4 smartphones in September.

The device supports multiple regional languages as well and comes with the 4G VoLTE connectivity. Some of the new handsets in the pipeline include the Bharat 5 Pro and the Bharat 5 Plus. The smartphone has a premium feel to it and, unlike the Bharat 5, does not feel bulky. The device packs in a massive 5000 mAh battery.

- The company has sold 3 million Bharat phones so far and plans to sell around 6 million by March-end with the help of the Bharat 5.

This phone runs on Android (Nougat) OS and offers connectivity options of 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM and Global Positioning System. The Bharat 5 runs Android Nougat out of the box.

Despite competitive hardware, it's tough to topple the Rs 4,999 priced Redmi 5A from Xiaomi. Micromax's launch offer believes that the new or existing Vodafone customers can get an additional of 10 GB along with the purchase 1 GB of data every month, for 5 consecutive months and making a total of 50 GB of additional data.
