That intrigue got the best of First Lady Melania Trump and Karen Pence, the wife of Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday.

The two visited the burger chain while in Corpus Christi, where they participated in a meet-and-greet with first responders to the storm.

Pence also shared a statement, saying "Our hearts are encouraged by the people of Texas and their continued enthusiasm to help each other pick up the pieces and rebuild after Hurricane Harvey". "We here in the press van, however, are burgerless", tweeted presumably hungry CNN reporter Kate Bennett.

But before leaving Corpus Christi, the first lady and the second lady stopped at Whataburger's flagship location for some lunch.

The Whataburger visit came at the end of a day spent meeting with hurricane victims and observing the ongoing relief effort. She'll tour their property and see their temporary FEMA supplied housing.

"As we approach Christmas this holiday season, your family is an example of what it means to have hope and recognize your blessings", the first lady said, according to KZTV.

Executive Director Bea Hanson said she first learned about the visit just days ago and is excited to show Melania Trump and Karen Pence behind the scenes operations at the Food Bank.
