The outcome of the 2018 World Cup draw created great angst Friday in Mexico because "El Tri" landed in a tough group, which includes reigning world champion Germany, Sweden and South Korea. In Group F with South Korea are the defending champions Germany, Mexico - who are ranked 16th in the Federation Internationale de Football Association world rankings - and Sweden - ranked 18th.

"We know the Mexicans from the Confederations Cup, the Swedes are a European team who we know as well, so only South Korea will be a slightly unknown quantity".

The sentiment was said by the German national team captain, Manuel Neuer.

Although they are considered the weakest team in the group, South Korean players said they will not give up hope. Mexico finished first in CONCACAF qualifying and cruised to the tournament, South Korea squeaked in on the final day of Asian qualifying and Sweden upset Italy in a UEFA playoff to advance to Russian Federation.

The last thing Mexico wanted was a tournament opener against Germany, which will take place June 17 in Moscow.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup won't be a breeze for Mexico's soccer team.

"I know it's going to be hard since every team is stronger than ours", he said. If we can prepare hard to improve, I think our tears at the 2014 World Cup can turn into smiles.
