John Mayer Has Been Hospitalised For An Emergency Appendectomy

Singer-songwriter John Mayer has been taken to hospital to undergo an emergency appendectomy, which has left his band Dead & Company to cancel one of their USA shows.

John Mayer had to undergo an emergency appendectomy in New Orleans on Tuesday (December 5), representatives said.

As for Tuesdays show - we're told original tickets will be honored at the new date - and if fans want a refund, they can return to point of purchase. Along with John, Dead & Company consists of Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, as well as Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti. Tickets to the December 7th show in Orlando are still on sale at this time.

Credit: Danny ClinchThe Grateful Dead spinoff group Dead & Company postponed its scheduled concert tonight in New Orleans because singer/guitarist John Mayer was admitted to the hospital in need of an emergency appendectomy, according to a tweet from the band.

The 40-year-old had performed with the Dead & Company as recently as Sunday.

The band now includes former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann.
