Jim Harbaugh's Twitter game is in offseason form as the calendar flips to December. When asked if he viewed that as a slight during a press conference on Sunday, Dantonio made reference to his track record against MI and Harbaugh.

Asked Sunday about his 9-3 team being passed over by the Outback Bowl for an 8-4 Michigan, Dantonio replied: "I just look at it as an opportunity to play in the Holiday Bowl right now".

Under sixth-year head coach Mike Leach, the Cougars finished the regular season 9-3 overall record, the third-straight season WSU has recorded at least eight victories.

MI football coach Jim Harbaugh took to Twitter Monday to respond to Mark Dantonio's comments during the bowl selection process.

"Saw Coach D comments on continuing to "focus" on how "he" can beat Michigan", Harbaugh said.

The No. 18 Cougars are heading back to the Holiday Bowl and will face Michigan State. "Good for (the Big Ten) to have him back". The Cougars put the bowl in the national consciousness two years later when they scored three touchdowns in the final minutes to upset highly regarded Southern Methodist 46-45 - in an era when pinball scores weren't as common as today. The Cougars are 2-5 all-time against Michigan State, with the last meeting coming in 1977, a 23-21 WSU win in East Lansing.

The City Council proclaimed it "San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl 40th Game Day" Monday in San Diego.

Harbaugh - who has lost two of his three meetings against the Spartans as head coach at MI - apparently didn't take too kindly to it.
