HealthCare.gov enrollment deadline coming up on Friday

In a twist, many people eligible for financial help may actually be able to pay lower premiums in 2018.

"Our enrollment specialists provide unbiased assistance to help clients determine their health insurance eligibility for Qualified Health Plans and such programs as Medicaid, Child Health Plus and the Essential Plan", explained Joyce Porter, AHI's Enrollment Assistance Services and Education (EASE) Program Manager.

There are only four days left to enroll for health insurance on the federal exchange.

Navigators are available throughout the state this week to help customers enroll and say financial help is still available.

That information was incorrect because every county in the nation now has at least one health insurer offering plans under the Affordable Care Act for next year, according to the AP report.

Officials at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rejected the request about a month later, sticking to the decision to cut this year's open-enrollment period in half - from 90 days to 45 - and end it on December 15. Perhaps because of that shortened window to sign up, the pace of plan selections on Healhcare.gov has been brisk since open enrollment began.

"Last year, while unannounced", the letter read, "Healthcare.gov was down for 53.5 hours out of a planned 54 hours during the first six Sundays of open enrollment". Consumers can still make appointments to get sign-up help at CoveringFlorida.org, she said.

North Carolina's governor is asking the federal government to extend the enrollment period for Affordable Care Act insurance.

"Not everyone is walking away feeling like their plan is affordable", Kiger said.

Premiums did in fact fall for those who bought plans with subsidies after insurers responded to President Donald Trump's decisions to eliminate subsidies called cost-sharing reductions.

Over 27,500 residents signed up for coverage a year ago. That means consumers on the East Coast will have until 3 a.m. on Saturday morning to enroll.

During the Obama years, officials allowed a grace period for consumers who started an application, but were unable to finish by the deadline.

Nevada is one of 39 states which uses Healthcare.gov to sell insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act. In California and NY, for instance, the deadline remains the same as a year ago - January 31.
