The Giants opened with a 3-yard run by Orleans Darkwa with Eli Manning standing on the sideline to start a regular season game for the first time since November 14, 2004. "If he's still there [in 2018], we don't know what their future plans are, if other people are there. You don't have any idea", Archie Manning said, via NFL.com.

"Eli and I have a tremendous relationship".

In the wake of his benching, some reports came out about the futures of both Eli and McAdoo. I'm feeling good, I've got a lovely wife, three little girls, I'm healthy. "So there's no sense speculating".

On rumblings that his firing is imminent, McAdoo continued, "A little birdie told me that something was out there, but again, that's not something I'm anxious about".

The Giants benched Manning for Sunday's game against the Raiders in favor of Geno Smith.

The Raiders looked like they were going to give up their lead just before halftime due to a special teams snafu, but Khalil Mack ensured that the second quarter would end without the Giants putting any more points on the board. If that decision backfires on McAdoo, there is a chance he will be out of a job by Monday.

The biggest National Football League story of this week was the benching of Giants quarterback Eli Manning. The two-time Super Bowl MVP stood with rookie Davis Webb - neither had their helmet, Smith threw a pair of incomplete passes to rookie tight end Evan Engram and wide receiver Roger Lewis Jr.
