Create Christmas trees for small spaces

Get rid of the tree after Christmas. It's easy to get distracted or let things fall by the wayside, but here's one chore that you really can't skip: watering your Christmas tree.

Despite all the reports in the news about lack of real Christmas trees, there are plenty in the state, Cheryl Nicholson, executive secretary of the Wisconsin Christmas Tree Producers Association, said. They absorb carbon dioxide and other gases, and in turn, emit oxygen.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), more than 200 home fires each year start with a Christmas tree, but there is something homeowners can do to mitigate damage - water the tree. Some tree farms also spray the trees with colourant to maintain the vibrant greenery.

It can take as little as 30 seconds for a Christmas tree fire to engulf a living room.

Make sure the tree is not blocking an exit.

Before purchasing the tree, consider the size and weight of what you can handle. Though Carolyn Price prefers a real tree, "We have a super tacky, fake white sparkly one for backup".

"Prices fell off the roof and growers were losing money, so they didn't have the incentive - and in some cases they didn't have the equity - to invest in planting seedlings."
Santa's Tree Farm, right off Highway 92, brims with a bounty both pre-cut and chop-it-yourself trees, including junipers, firs, and more.

"Trees are in shorter supply this year", said North Carolina Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Heather Overton.

But if you plan to reuse your artificial tree, which most people do, the environmental impact eventually tips in favour of the artificial tree. Many ancient people saw the sun as a god, and they believed that winter came because the sun god had become sick or weak. Paddock said six years is probably a more reasonable guess.

"A real Christmas tree is an environmentally friendly option that also supports local Christmas tree growers", Sarah Marketon, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation's direct or communications, says. At the Delta Gamma Center Charity Christmas Tree Lot, there were only around 50 trees left Wednesday evening.

"I love the fact that we created this farm", Kelly Kinsey said.

Once the holiday is over, acclimate the tree to moving back outside by placing it in the sheltered porch or garage for a few days.
