Unlocked iPhone Xs bought online can ship to customers as soon as December 12.

Apple has expanded its iPhone X family with the introduction of an unlocked, SIM-free model. People can also order the unlocked iPhone X smartphones and pick them up from an Apple Store, which also sell an unlocked version of the device. Prefer a regional carrier, an MVNO, or virtually an other option?

There's not a huge distinction between the Verizon version of the iPhone X and this new SIM-free one.

The iPhone X earned an "excellent" rating in PCMag's review, nabbing props for its "updated design", "powerful processor", "excellent screen", "first-of-its-kind augmented reality front camera", and-of course-its ability to create animoji.

The threat of backorders and shipping delays have dogged the iPhone X since before the phone even launched. "You can do that by purchasing the factory-unlocked, SIM-free model directly from Apple in the U.S. or Australia, or by purchasing a Verizon Wireless or Sprint unit".

Head on over to Apple's website, then click Buy on the iPhone X page (similar to how you'd purchase a carrier-locked variant of the phone). With a model like this, the owner can swap out their SIM with one from a different carrier and use it on the same phone without worrying about whether it is compatible.
