Amazon Video finally comes to Apple TV

The newly-launched app should appear in the Apple TV App Store, but if not, you can try updating the Amazon Prime Video app on your iPhone or iPad, post which it should install automatically on your Apple TV.

The Prime Video app for the Apple TV supports numerous Apple TV features, this included Siri and the TV app, this allows you to search for videos on Prime from the main TV interface. That said, Amazon stopped selling Apple TV back in 2015 strictly because of Apple TV's lack of a Prime Video app.

This comes shortly after Google broke ties with Amazon's Fire TV, showing the fight between internet giants to dominate in both content and hardware. Now Google has been unhappy with Amazon using its YouTube service on its devices and this was the first step to make Amazon agree to its demands.

Why such good news for Apple TV owners, and such bad news for Fire TV and Chromecast owners?

The restriction means that Amazon's Echo Show and its Fire TV can only access YouTube through its existing website, not through the app. You can get YouTube, Google Play and Amazon video, but not iTunes.

Ostensibly, Google and Amazon run different types of businesses.

The newer Apple TV 4K was released in September and is a great accessory if you have a 4K HDR TV. It also can be watched on a Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire tablets. The conflict further heated up two weeks ago when Amazon found a roundabout way for their consumers to still access the video portal, redirecting them to the web version of it instead of using an app.

As streaming becomes more and more prevalent, more and more options to stream content become available.

Amazon announced earlier that their Prime Video app is now available in more than 100 countries around the word. Both have also been pushing their own video and music-streaming services as well as competing video-control platforms. "The question is, can you get it on there with acceptable business terms?" Roku, a steaming player manufactured by Roku Inc., has gained popularity in the U.S. Being cheaper than Fire TV and Apple TV, it is the best-selling streaming device in the U.S., according to eMarketer.

In a statement to Variety, an Amazon rep said: "Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website".
