While there were some vicious beasts in the original trailer, the latest one shows off some of the more gruesome baddies and also a new setting. The remaining survivors seek shelter in the underground metro tunnels, far from the dangers that lie on the surface.

Finally, the trailer also firmed up Metro Exodus' release date from a general 2018 to spring 2018, meaning we should see a lot more from 4A Games in the coming months. In contrast to previous Metro games, Exodus does seem to offer a much brighter palette, though still maintains the feel of its post-apocalyptic world. This thrilling story-line will span an entire calendar year through the changing seasons.

"We were overwhelmed by our fans' reaction to the announcement of Metro Exodus at E3", said Andriy Prokhorov, creative director and co-founder at 4A Games. The game picks up directly where Metro: Last Light's enlightened ending, the last game in the franchise, which was released in 2013.

One of the highlights of The Game Awards 2017 was a meaty trailer for Metro: Exodus, the latest installment in the post-apocalyptic survival horror shooter set in Russian Federation.
