During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, the company unveiled details on Xenoblade Chronicles 2's massive Expansion Pass.

Players who purchase the expansion pass will receive new support items in December, followed by new quests in January. The northern hemisphere's spring will see the addition of a rare new weapon, before the bulk of the additional content lands later in the year. Finally, a new story/adventure will be released in autumn 2018 for expansion pass holders. One is a Rex costume (the hero of Xenoblade Chronicles 2) will be available for Link to wear in Breath of the Wild on November 9. For starters, a Japanese voiceover track will be available on launch day as a free DLC, if you prefer to play with the original voice acting.

The release of the Nintendo Switch-exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is on the horizon, bringing the critically-acclaimed series to Nintendo's newest console for the first time.

In and out of battle, Blades will have a wide array of support abilities. Abilities differ from Blade to Blade, so selecting different Blades adds to the strategy of battle. If players manage to defeat certain Unique Beasts, a tombstone will be left behind to commemorate the creature and allow players to relive those battles for additional rewards.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be available for Switch on December 1. Aside from this, the game's Expansion Pass was announced, which is available for pre-purchase starting today for $29.99.

It's not now known what the quest will entail, how it will be unlocked, or even if it will require an update to the game, but we'll be sure to keep you posted when we know more.

While journeying through the game world, players will encounter both peaceful and aggressive wildlife.
