The last parade of the year will be the most patriotic.

The Veterans Day parade is always held in the 11th month, on the 11th day and during the 11th hour.

In honor of veterans' service to the nation and to commemorate 452 years of militia in St. Augustine, admission to the Castillo de San Marcos will be free on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The Veterans Day Ceremony immediately follows the parade at 7th Street and Forrest Avenue. The public is invited to honor military personnel and veterans. Norman Sanderson, R-Carteret, Craven and Pamlico counties; and Rep. Michael Speciale, R-Craven and Pamlico. Other participating bands will be Croatan High School, East Carteret High School and West Carteret High School. The community is encouraged to attend the parade to celebrate the men and women who have served in the US military.

Once again, Veterans Day is at hand, and it is a time for all of us who value the freedom we all share today by giving thanks to the veterans, living and dead, who sacrificed so we can sleep, work, play and enjoy life in a peaceful country.

"For this year's Ceremony, we wanted to find the heroes among us and honor them", says Victorville Mayor Gloria Garcia. A complimentary meal will be served to the veterans after the program.
