The first trailer hit today, and it establishes that there will indeed be giant monsters wreaking havoc in a big city.

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have released the first trailer for Rampage, Dwayne Johnson's latest action adventure film, reteaming him with his San Andreas director Brad Peyton.

In the Rampage video game, players took control of one of three big monsters and withstood the barrage of gunfire from the military while they completely destroyed the city. Specifically, three animals, including an ape named George who is Johnson's best buddy, are transformed into giant, rampaging monsters.

The Rock Isn't Monkeying Around In First 'Rampage' Trailer

Rampage opens April 20 (heh), 2018.

The Rampage Plot: Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. Things go from bad to worse when it's discovered that the rogue trial had a ripple effect and created other genetically altered alpha predators. Dwayne's character gets asked in the clip. The supporting cast of Rampage includes Oscar nominee Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Joe Manganiello, Jake Lacy, Marley Shelton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The first game, which the movie seems to be loosely adapting, featured George, Lizzie, and Ralph as the only monsters and offered little to no story. The trailer gives us a glimpse of a giant wolf and a monstrous crocodile that have become the subjects of this experiment as well. There are several things that Warner Bros. and DC have to deliver on when this film is released and it's a ideal time to discuss which of these elements need to be shown the most.
