However, as is the case with nearly every woman who shares a story of assault, some tried to blame Raisman, citing "sexy" photoshoots she'd done in the past as justification for unwanted attention.

Biles' tweet drew thousands of retweets, likes, and a range of replies, many of which pilloried Douglas for failing to support Raisman. "Regardless of what you wear, abuse under any circumstance is never acceptable. i am WITH you".

The 23-year-old said: 'I will not put up with any woman or girl being shamed for wanting to wear a skirt, dress, etc, I do no tolerate it.

In response to her former U.S. Olympic teammate, Douglas wrote on Twitter that "it is our responsibility as women to dress modestly and be classy. dressing in a provocative/sexual way entices the wrong crowd". An appearance on 60 Minuteslast weekend brought her story to the forefront of the past two months' allegations of harassment and assault by powerful men across industries.

In her book Fierce, Raisman writes that the abuse all began when she was 15 and practicing through her pain in Australia ahead of a meet.

McKayla Maroney wrote last month that she had been molested for years by Dr. Larry Nassar, who is now being sued by more than 130 women. Aly Raisman has had a rough month after bravely admitting she was sexually abused by Olympic team doctor Larry Nassar, and it got a little rougher on November 17.

"The people at the very top, that work at the office every single day at USA Gymnastics, they need to do better", Raisman said, before adding, "It's making me sad. I support you Aly & all the other women out there", Biles wrote. He was sacked from Michigan State a year ago. Nassar has denied dozens of allegations of sexual abuse, but is now in jail after pleading guilty on child pornography charges. In exchange for Nassar's guilty plea, US prosecutors have agreed not to pursue charges in two additional incidents of alleged sexual crimes with minors.

Many other people online joined Simone to criticize Gabby's tweet, pointing out that someone's clothing is entirely irrelevant to their harassment or assault, and that the gymnast's words reflect a huge reason why victims are hesitant to come forward.

"Aly's passion and concern for athlete safety is shared by USA Gymnastics".
