'Shameless' in Real Life: Ethan Cutkosky Arrested For DUI

Shameless star Ethan Cutkosky, who plays Carl on the Showtime series, had a real Gallagher moment recently.

The 18-year-old actor was reportedly released Thursday morning on $5,000 bail.

Ethan Cutkosky was reportedly driving his orange BMW went he was stopped by police at 10:30 p.m. We're told he did poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested on the spot.

Officers smelled burnt marijuana coming from the auto, and Cutkosky admitted to them he had been smoking marijuana earlier in the evening, police said.

Pfrommer told the AP that the actor's blood-alcohol tests were "still pending". He is slated to appear in court regarding later this month, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Reps for Cutkosky did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

On Shameless, Cutkosky plays Carl, the second youngest member of the Gallagher brood - whom all struggle to raise themselves at the hands of an alcoholic father (played by William H. Macy). His arrest came days before the eighth season of the show premiered on Sunday. After spending almost two seasons selling drugs and weapons, Carl managed to finally leave his life of crime behind when he enrolled in a military academy with the help of his ex-girlfriend's father near the end of Season 7.
