Penn State overcame a slow start and an early 6-0 deficit Saturday with 35 unanswered points in a 35-6 victory over Rutgers.

Penn State received the opening kickoff.

Home finale: After disposing of Rutgers, the Nittany Lions have two games left on the regular-season slate - and Senior Day is next week. RB Saquon Barkley remains a Heisman contender even with Penn State losing two in a row. He completed 16 passes in 21 attempts for 214 yards and the two scores, while rushing 13 times for 44 yards and one TD.

Penn State fans can listen to the game on the Penn State Sports Network. "He came in his redshirt-freshman year in the Tax Slayer Bowl and started slinging it and he's been making plays ever since".

Penn State needs a team to play where they can just take out all of their frustration. However, the Lions' defense held the Scarlet Knights to just a field goal. Penn State has hit the over in eight of its last nine games in November and in six of its last seven games following a loss. The Scarlet Knights led 3-0 after one, the first time all season the Lions were shut out in the first quarter.

Aside from the Rutgers drive into the red zone late in the fourth quarter, it was quite the showing from the Nittany Lions defense after a sloppy start.

Then it became the McSorley show as he took over the game and Barkley's struggles continued.

Barkley, who managed a season-low 35 yards on 14 carries, did run for two short TDs in the third quarter.

The quarterback's 22-yard touchdown pass to DaeSean Hamilton was pretty, too, and his 16-yard toss to Mike Gesicki added insurance in the fourth quarter.

Gus Edwards leads the team in rushing with 140 carries for 630 yards and 6 touchdowns. With his second-quarter scoring run, McSorley passed Daryll Clark for most touchdowns responsible for in Penn State history. "He keeps people honest, keeps them on their toes".

The all-time career receptions leader had another big day, hauling in three catches for 47 yards and a touchdown.

College football analyst Kirk Herbstreit kind of let the cat out of the bag during ABC's broadcast of the Penn State-Michigan game, mentioning the secret play off-hand when the Nittany Lions were up big.

For Rutgers, they now drop to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

"It's exciting to see guys on offense and defense breaking records", Hamilton said. Luckily, Rutgers is just the team they need.

The Knights also bridged the first and second quarters with a 15-play, 57-yard march that consumed 7:45 and resulted in Harte's 25-yard field goal. McSorley was blasted this week for being a major reason why Penn State is toast in the playoff hunt.

Linebackers Jason Cabinda and Brandon Smith were all over the field as the duo combined for 21 tackles.
