Nintendo Switch outsold PlayStation 4, Xbox One last month in the US

Nintendo provided a news release announcing that the hybrid handheld console was the number one video game hardware for October, making it the second month in a row that it's held the position, according to numbers provided by the NPD.

The top selling video game of October was Super Mario Odyssey, which launched on October 27.

But that's not all.

Skyrim Nintendo Switch Edition has already been compared to all the other consoles and it runs so well that Youtuber Arekkz Gaming chose to do a side by side comparison with the most powerful console right now, the Xbox One X on 1080p. Despite its limited availability, it's had no trouble getting into the hands of collectors.

The Super Mario Odyssey game for Nintendo Switch emerged as the top-selling video game of the month on the NPD sales chart, even though it launched at the end of the month on October 27.

The company confirmed that total US hardware sales were over 1 million units, so consumers picked up at least 666,000 Switch, Super NES Classic, and 3DS consoles. It's worth remembering that it released right at the end of the month; in just four days on sale, it pulled bigger numbers than anything else released that month. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were No. 10 and No. 11, respectively, on that list.

It's safe to say that Nintendo is killing it this holiday season, and they aren't stopping any time soon.
