Thankfully, you can download this app right now as an APK even though it was pulled from Google Play Store. One screenshot hints that file transfers work via Bluetooth, though that's not confirmed.

The in-app features include filters to select and view files, send-receive options and freeing up space on phone with smart cards. Importantly, Files Go would spot and remove spam as well as duplicate images to free up storage. The company had been preparing to announce its new file manager for Android later in December, but those plans were thwarted earlier this week when the app was spotted in the wild during testing. All the files are sorted in sections: Downloads, Received Files, Images, Videos, Audio, and Documents.

As expected of any self-respecting file manager app, Google Files Go app offers suggestions to users to help them delete apps and programs that are sparingly used and needlessly take up space.

"The app itself has minimal permissions (internet access) but it's basically an ad-loaded wrapper which has some code to download a second apk, also called "whatsapp.apk", he said.

Though early speculation was that Files Go was being aimed at emerging markets, we understand it's on track for a global launch, starting in December.

From there, users are brought to a message-like interface that shows a history of file transfers.

Another cool thing about the Files Go app is that it will allow you to transfer files wirelessly.

The app is available now for anyone who wants to give it a shot. But more than just a transfer protocol between Android devices, it could potentially work for sending files from an Android device to a Chromebook and vice versa, especially now that Chromebooks run Android apps. We think that Google likely will be testing this app out for a bit longer before the official release happens. It is a new app and Google has not officially released this app yet.
