Manchester United are claimed to be keen on offloading Luke Shaw this January, with Arsenal said to be keen on his signature.

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Luke Shaw's situation at Old Trafford with the likes of Spurs and Chelsea both interested in signing the defender.

Shaw arrived with huge expectations having broken into the England team at the age of 18, and had already strongly impressed in his 60 Premier League appearances for Southampton.

Shaw, who has been isolated by manager Jose Mourinho, has been heavily mooted to make a move away from United in the winter transfer window.

United have recently extended the defender's until 2019 through a clause in his contract.

While various rumours involving the fullback have hinted at swap deals, the two London clubs will reportedly look to bring Shaw in for a cut-price fee as United look to offload him as quickly as possible.

It is said that United hope this will strengthen their chances of recouping most of the £28m then paid Southampton for him in 2014.

We start with this report which broke on Friday: "Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have made no significant progress in talks over a new contract, sources have told ESPN FC".

United have dropped points with two defeats (against Huddersfield and Chelsea) and a draw (against Liverpool) in recent weeks, and return to Premier League action after the worldwide break to take on Newcastle United at Old Trafford next Saturday.
