When Jackson was still at the helm of the Knicks last June, they drafted Frank Ntilikina No. 8, one spot in front of Dennis Smith Jr.

"I don't know this dude here", James said with a laugh. "I was thinking about just the Knicks organization and Phil Jackson at the time, and Dennis Smith's talent and (his fit with Kristaps) Porzingis and that's all I was thinking about".

James made that pronouncement after the Cavaliers' hard-fought win over Smith and the Mavericks in Dallas on Saturday, saying, "The Knicks passed on a really good one, and Dallas got the diamond in the rough".

"I'm a fan of the game as well". The Knicks chose to pass on Smith with what ended up being the final draft pick of Jackson's tenure as team president, selecting Ntilikina eighth overall. "It's the best for our league". I thought they would pick him, but, like I said there was no shade at Frank. But on Monday, the subway played hosts to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James and his teammates' appearance on New York City public transit obviously caught fellow subway riders by surprise. We love what we got.

"I had nothing but respect for him as a coach for what he was able to do", James said at the time. I've been with him for so long now. "The coaches, the GMs, the president, this organization knows what they're doing".

"I don't care, it doesn't matter LeBron or whoever it is". I can not just let (James) disrespect (Ntilikina) like that.

Ntilikina is averaging 4.4 points, 5.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game for the Knicks (7-5) and has excelled on the defensive end. "And I believe the only reason he used that word is because he sees young African-Americans trying to make a difference". I have to prove to the team. "I'm just focused about the team, focused about us and we are just 100 percent motivated every game day ... so it's not affecting us".
