Jimmy Fallon Offers Tearful Tribute to His Late Mother, Gloria

On Monday night, Fallon opened up about his mother's death on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". Seated at a piano, Swift demanded attention with the introspective and emotional tune.

According to the show's producer Mike DiCenzo, the Reputation singer, 27, agreed last-minute to perform on the show Monday night which was Jimmy Fallon's first show back since losing his mom, Gloria.

Gloria died on Saturday, November 4, just one day after The Tonight Show taping for Friday episode was canceled. Mom, I'll never stop trying to make you laugh.

"Last week, I was in the hospital and I grabbed her hand and squeezed, 'I love you, '" Fallon said with tears in his eyes.

"Our hearts go out to Jimmy and everyone else whose lives were so touched by Gloria Fallon's love, kindness and support", the network added last week.

"She would squeeze my hand three times and say, "I love you" and I'd squeeze back, "I love you too"".

Daly - whose stepfather Richard Caruso died five after Pattie's death - shared similar sweet memories of his mother when he returned to Today on October 4.

Gloria's advice? "Wash your hands after being near that Paris Hilton", she joked on the show.

Taylor's appearance was the first performance on the show since Jimmy returned following the passing of his mother.

"She also stole everything!" said Daly with a laugh.

The lyrics, "you squeeze my hand three times in the back of the cab", appeared to particularly affect Fallon, who recalled his late mother's special signal for showing their love.

She was 68 years old. It was a handsome coincidence in a lovely performance. "'Hold on to your memories, they will hold on to you'". Thank you for watching. "Whatever you think of Taylor, she did something handsome for Jimmy and our show today, and we're forever grateful".
