India's Manushi Chhillar wins Miss World 2017

Manushi, who won both the Head to Head challenge and the Beauty with a goal segment of the Miss World competition, impressed the judges with her final answer as well.

Miss India Manushi Chhilar wins the 67th Miss World contest final in Sanya, on the tropical Chinese island of Hainan on November 18, 2017. She is the first Indian woman to bag the title after Priyanka Chopra won the pageant in 2000. "The victor of Miss World 2017 is Miss India Manushi Chhillar", the tweet said.

Miss World 2016 victor Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle gave away the coveted crown to the victor.

Manushi Chillar is a 20 years old trained Kuchipudi dancer trained under legendary dancers Kaushalya Reddy and Raja and Radha Reddy. Manushi took over from Priyadarshini Chatterjee to become the 54th Miss World.

During the question and answer round, after reaching the top five, Chhillar mentioned the profession she thought deserved the highest respect. Zhang Zilin, representing China, was appointed Miss World 2007, becoming the first Chinese ever to win at a major worldwide beauty pageant.

She replied: "I think a mother is of highest respect. Super proud! Jai Hind". We knew you had all the qualities to conquer the world ever since we met you for the first time! The medical student couldn't believe herself when her name was announced and reacted with extreme joy. Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Diana Hayden were other Indians who have won this prestigious title.
