Host Ellen DeGeneres didn't exactly ask Biden during their interview, which will be broadcast in full on Monday, but rather led him into the topic by cracking, "Right, until you run for president in 2020..."

Biden certainly hasn't been shy about criticizing the current president Donald Trump. "There's so many people today -Ellen, you know it better than I. You have such empathy -that get up every morning, put one foot in front of the other one and wonder how in God's name do they do it, but they do it".

According to the NBC report, Pence speaks with Biden over the phone at least once a month, and has spoken with Cheney over the phone and at meetings in the White House.

"Oprah, no woman or man should announce they're running for president unless they can answer two questions", Biden explained. "And I think that he is also looking at 2020".

Biden, who served eight years as Obama's vice president after 36 years in the U.S. Senate, said he did not have second thoughts, however, about the reason why he passed up the opportunity to enter the race.

"I've done not a single thing to promote that or to organizationally do anything", he said."My dad had another expression, he'd say, 'Joey, don't compare me to the almighty, compare me to the alternative".

If only, Joe Biden.

"I say to my son, 'Well, Beau said this to me.' He said, 'Dad, he couldn't have said that".

"But anyway, yes, I understand", she said.

"They understand their strengths and they understand their weaknesses".

Ugh. Trump isn't the leader we need! "And the people who don't do that are the people who aren't self-aware enough to know ... because most of the time that abuse ends up in their downfall as well".
