Google Maps will soon get a cleaner look

The color scheme has been updated, and there are new icons for places of interest, such as cafes and hospitals.

That means when you're driving, Maps will highlight gas stations, while train stations and bus stops will be more visible in transit mode, and points of interest are more prominent in when exploring. For example, all the food and drinks related places like restaurants, takeaways, bakeries, and ice cream parlours have orange-coloured symbols. Over the years, the team at Google has improved on various aspects of the mapping service, adding features such as offline maps and real-time location sharing.

"Now, we're updating Google Maps with a new look that better reflects your world, right now".

Google Maps will now take into consideration what you're currently doing, and show you important bits of information that will be helpful in that particular instance.

Google announced in an update that its Maps platform underwent a partial redesign that aims to make it quicker and easier for users to find places depending on their usage. Moreover, there is a green icon for health and blue for shopping. "Over time, the new style will also appear in the apps, websites and experiences offered by companies that use Google Maps APIs as well".

These changes will be rolling out over the new few weeks for all Google product that use Maps, including Assistant, Search, Earth, and Android Auto.
