Pochettino's solid platform will undoubtedly be tested this weekend, as Spurs travel across north London to play fierce rivals Arsenal at the Emirates.

Despite the victory, the Daily Express' sports reporter Matt Dunn queried why Arsenal have not been able to produce the same kind of performance on a regular basis.

The Tottenham hierarchy were infuriated by Rose's decision to take part in a newspaper interview in August questioning the club's ambition and urging chairman Daniel Levy to sign higher profile players. "When you see the academy, we have a lot of talent - we need time and patience to help them achieve".

"From a Tottenham perspective, you've got to get up against him. But the principal option is to win the Premier League and put Tottenham in a position to win the Champions League". It was hard for Arsenal to play at Manchester City and it was hard for Manchester United to play at Chelsea.

Rose was then ordered to train with other fringe members of the Spurs squad rather than make the short trip to Arsenal, fuelling the belief that his days at the club may soon come to an end.

He revealed, as quoted by the Sun: "They are building a great stadium, they have a great squad, a great coach, the training ground is fantastic".

If this actually happened, it would allow Rose to join one of the world's biggest clubs, while Shaw would be reunited with Pochettino, who brought the best out of him at Southampton. But they had it yesterday. "You can't see how this is the same group of players".

This is Wenger's 21st season at Arsenal and his first success - a Premier League and FA Cup Double in 1998 - was built on a base of English players including David Seaman, Tony Adams, Martin Keown and Ray Parlour.

"Do any team do it every week?"

"This season, I think it will be Man City and I think everyone else will be inconsistent". They have everything to be a great team.
