The famous actor Dustin Hoffman was accused of sexual harassment 30 years ago, a victim of the artist became 17-the summer girl.

Anna Graham Hunter came forward with her side of the story from the 1985 TV movie project in a guest column published by The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday.

Hunter told her sister about Hoffman's conduct in a series of letters she wrote to her while working on the set.

Hoffman has apologised, telling the magazine he has "the utmost respect for women" and "feels terrible" if he put Ms Hunter "in an uncomfortable situation".

Hoffman, 80, star of "The Graduate" and "Tootsie", said behaviour described by Anna Graham Hunter in a first person account for The Hollywood Reporter magazine was "not reflective of who I am".

Both Hunter and the other intern responded to the harassment by calling Hoffman a "disgusting pig" and a "dirty old man", but anxious about being fired by producer Bob Colesberry for standing up for themselves, according to the journal excerpts, THR reported.

"At 49, I understand what Dustin Hoffman did as it fits into the larger pattern of what women experience in Hollywood and everywhere", she said. In one entry, she said he pestered Hunter about having sex - more specifically scolding her for not having sex over the weekend (to be clear, not with him, just in general). "I left, speechless. Then I went to the bathroom and cried". It escalated when she went to take his breakfast order one morning, and he made a vulgar comment.

Mortified and upset by Hoffman's alleged remarks, Hunter claims that she was told by a supervisor on set to "sacrifice" some of her values for the sake of a seamless production. Himself Dustin Hoffman apologized and said that he was very ashamed of his behavior, and actually he's not that kind of person. "It was so gross I couldn't say anything", she wrote, likely referencing Hoffman's clitoris comment".

Hunter said "I just turned around and walked out".

Hunter says she has many fond memories from the set - including interactions with John Malkovich and Arthur Miller - and that initially, she welcomed the extra interest from Hoffman. So you think I'm a sexist pig, huh?

"My heart aches for the awkward virgin with the bad hair who had only been kissed three times in her life, laughing as the man her father's age talked about breasts and sex". But he could also be sweet and wanted me to like him.
