Veteran journalist Charlie Rose has been suspended from CBS News and had production of his PBS show halted after being accused of sexual harassment.

PBS, which has aired the show since its 1991 debut, replaced Monday's scheduled edition of Charlie Rose with an episode of Antiques Roadshow.

"This is a moment that demands a frank and honest assessment", O'Donnell said. There is no excuse for this alleged behavior ... "It is systematic and pervasive". Our credibility in that reporting requires credibility managing basic standards of behavior. That is why we have taken these actions. "I am so proud to work at CBS News".

Rose routinely landed the biggest names in global politics, entertainment and letters for his interview show. "This followed the revelation yesterday of extremely disturbing and intolerable behavior said to have revolved around his PBS program", the memo states.

We gotta give credit where credit is due - Megyn Kelly continues to be a consistent voice in the #MeToo movement with her unwavering call to attention to the sexual harassment allegations that are happening in droves right now.

Rose, for the most part, did not deny the accusations against him and issued a lengthy apology.

"Charlie does not get a pass here". "It was deeply disturbing, troubling and painful for me to read". "This will be investigated, this has to end, this behavior is wrong".

CBS News says the network terminated Rose's contract Tuesday.

The longtime TV anchor is accused of making lewd phone calls, groping and walking around naked in front of women without their consent. The Post says that all of the women were between the ages of 21 and 37 at the time of their unwanted encounters; had offered "striking commonalities" in their accounts; and all had confided with friends, family and colleagues about the incidents at the time.

One of Rose's assistants in the mid-2000s said there were at least a dozen instances when Rose walked around naked in front of her.

She also recounted cases when he would talk about how he fantasied about her swimming naked in the pool at his house as he watched, she told the newspaper.

In response to the allegations, Rose took to Twitter to release a statement. There are so many incredibly people here, especially on this show.

"I certainly echo that", King said.

"I failed", said Vega.

She added: "I am deeply rocked by this".

Rose could not immediately be reached to comment, but on Monday apologised for his 'inappropriate behaviour.' Rose, 75, however, also questioned the accuracy of the allegations in the Washington Post. "I am greatly embarrassed", he said. A former associate producer for Rose's PBS show, Reah Bravo, told the Washington Post: "He was a sexual predator, and I was his victim". "I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken", the former 60 Minutes host continued.

Rose said he had now "come to a profound new respect for women and their lives".
