Broncos reportedly giving Paxton Lynch his chance to start

Lynch completed 59 percent of his passes for 497 yards with two touchdowns against one interception in two and a half games past year.

Of the three quarterbacks, Lynch should benefit the most from the offense's simplification.

Coach Vance Joseph admitted Monday there was nothing preventing Lynch from starting, but wanted to first talk with new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave.

Lynch takes over for Brock Osweiler, who took over for Trevor Siemian. With Siemian at the helm, the Broncos nearly upended the Chiefs at home in a close game plagued by turnovers from the quarterback. His one win was over the Jaguars, but his loss was to the Falcons when he went 23 of 35 for 223 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

It's Paxton Lynch time in Denver.

We'll find out just what he can do Sunday. If Lynch can provide steadier play or better ability to move the chains, either one, then the Chiefs might be in bigger trouble when they visit Mile High later this year. Their O/U trends are 2-0-2 in their last 4 Week 12 games, 1-5 in their last 6 games vs. AFC West, 21-7-1 in their last 29 home games, 18-5-3 in their last 26 November games, and 13-5-2 in their last 20 games vs. a team with a losing record.

The fact that Joseph declared Lynch "healthy" means any decision about Lynch now hinges on the second-year quarterback's readiness to handle the playbook in a regular-season game.

"He's doing a nice job", McCoy said. "He has all of the intangibles".
