Bloomington police say they have a subject in custody following a stabbing that injured two people Sunday night at the Macy's store at the Mall of America.

The incident took place inside one of the department store's dressing rooms, where Abdirahaman was allegedly attempting to steal another shopper's belongings.

"Our officers arrived and took the suspect into custody", Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts said, while addressing the media.

Officials identified him as Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahaman, 20, according to a local CBS report.

One of the victims was trying on clothes with a group of friends or family members in the men's department at Macy's shortly before 6:45 p.m., Potts said. Police say shoppers weren't in any danger. Both individuals were transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for treatment. Police don't believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

He is charged with two counts of first-degree assault. "Mall of America has the largest privately trained security force in the country and we are vigilant and committed to providing a safe environment for our guests, employees and tenants".
