Taika Waititi Responds To Thor: Ragnarok Comments

Speaking to the New York Times, Waititi, whose Thor threequel is receiving rave reviews from critics before its global opening, made it clear that his style and narrative ambition wouldn't fit what Lucasfilm envisions for its stories.

Marvel and DC Comics both have movies coming out in November. "We improvised a lot of the movie". And you're absolutely right, it does seem more like a comedy, doesn't it?

The two franchises have two very different tones, so it makes sense that Waititi isn't interested in focusing on a project that won't let his personality ooze out. The result is goofy and wholesome, with Waititi holding court on his native country's penchant for re-gifting, bad internet handles, and briefly riffing on Akira (which is a nice tease for anyone excited by the news that he might be in talks to direct an adaptation of the manga). The new clip features Thor, Loki and The Grandmaster.

In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor finds himself imprisoned and forced to compete in the Grandmaster's Contest of Champions, trying to get back to Asgard to prevent Ragnarok.

"What a cast - Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth..." They have created a series of incredibly successful films under their umbrella and moved into television with several great shows (especially over on Netflix), making them a force to be reckoned with.

It will be followed by Avengers: Infinity War next spring, with Black Panther also generating huge hype ahead of its February release.
