Russian uranium scheme gets scant media attention

Barrasso has been raising concerns about the deal, which ultimately gave Russian Federation control of 20 percent of the USA uranium supply, since 2010. The Obama Administration, under Hillary Clinton's State Department leadership, approved a controversial deal to sell America's vital uranium stockpiles to Russian Federation.

"Multiple current and former government officials told the Hill they did not know whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation or [Justice Department] ever alerted committee members to the criminal activity they uncovered", Solomon and Spann reported.

The State Department first OK'd the sale of part of Uranium One - based in Toronto but with mining holdings around the world including Wyoming - to the Russian nuclear company Rosatom in 2010.

The Hill also says they have documents indicating Russian nuclear officials funneled millions of dollars to former President Bill Clinton's charitable foundation. "A full account of whether the Department adequately disclosed this evidence to CFIUS is critical to provide transparency to Congress and the American public".

Team Obama evidently kept Congress ignorant of Moscow's atomic graft until five years after the Uranium One deal.

"The sale of Uranium One resulted in a Russian government takeover of a significant portion of US uranium mining capacity", he wrote. "The sale of Uranium One resulted in a Russian government takeover of a significant portion of US uranium mining capacity".

The two U.S. -Russia deals in question happened in 2010 and 2011. "This record is at great odds with our own national security".

And Grassley, one of the few congressional leaders to have regularly raised questions about the uranium deal, said he no longer accepts the Obama administration's insistence from 2015 that there was no basis to block the transaction.

However, the New York Times reported that even without an export license, Uranium One had been exporting yellowcake to Canada by using a proxy transport company that was licensed.

'In my letter, I asked the agencies involved in approving the transaction if they were aware of the criminal probe and the intelligence operation examining Russian activity, ' Grassley explained. He gave a deadline of December 1.

"Uranium deal to Russian Federation, with Clinton help and Obama Administration knowledge, is the biggest story that Fake Media doesn't want to follow!" The Hill could not determine whether the Justice Department or FBI ever shared its investigation with members of CFIUS, which included Secretary Clinton and then-attorney general Eric Holder.

Obama administration figures involved in the 2009-15 investigation include Robert Mueller, James Comey, Rod Rosenstein and Andrew McCabe - all of whom are involved in some fashion in the current investigation of President Donald Trump's alleged collusion with Russian Federation.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said Wednesday he is looking into potential "conflicts of interest" of Hillary Clinton's over a Russian uranium deal that was approved despite an ongoing FBI investigation of the company concerned.

President Donald Trump in a series of Thursday morning tweets accused mainstream media outlets of ignoring reports of a bribery scandal connected to an Obama-era uranium deal with Russian Federation.

"Since The Hill story broke on Tuesday morning (through the Thursday morning shows), the broadcast networks haven't said a word about this matter, despite its coming up at Wednesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing (which was covered live on CNN and MSNBC as well as Fox News Channel)", MRC research director Rich Noyes told me.
