Melissa Hatheier, or "the shark wrangler" as she's been dubbed, was filmed wrestling with the shark at the Cronulla Beach rock pool before throwing it back out to sea.

Hatheier's daughter, Shannon, captured the daring save on video, showing the real estate agent using her bare hands and picking up the shark and safely placing it over the divider. "I saw it and it was just a little Port Jackson so I just thought I should chuck him out".

"I just picked him up and off he went, ' she laughed, joking that she hoped the fearless stunt would be enough to get her a spot on next season's 'Survivor" TV show. And they didn't know what to do.

"Our in house Shark Wrangler Melissa Hatheier wrestling a shark out of Oak Park Rock Pool yesterday morning!" I started to swim around him and he became a bit stressed and started to knock his head on the rocks. She joked while speaking on the show that "As a real estate agent I'm used to relocating people and this was similar".

She added: "I thought, as long as I keep my hand near its fins it couldn't bite me; I wouldn't have grabbed it by the tail though".

By holding the bronze whaler upside down, Ms Hatheier put the shark into a state of paralysis called "tonic immobility", meaning she could safely move it without putting herself in danger. "He's like a toddler, '" she said, according to news.com.au. She was cheered online, too.

"Well done, Mel", wrote another.
