Jose Mourinho said United were "almost there" in terms of reaching the knockout stages after the victory in Russian Federation and can go closer still on Wednesday at the Estadio da Luz.

Benfica will have a lot to prove in their third group fixture after the embarrassing 5-0 loss to FC Basel last time out, and this will feel like their final chance to keep their qualifying hopes alive.

Juan Mata has expressed his excitement ahead of Manchester United's trip to Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

And Mata, writing in his weekly blog, noted that the circumstances surrounding the clash could culminate in an entertaining affair at the Estadio de Luz. Man Utd, on the other hand, are brimming with confidence following the bright start to the season and we expect them to win at Estadio da Luz.

"When I first came to Benfica, the manager Jorge Jesus told me I would be playing as a defensive midfielder", Matic, who has impressed since joining United from Chelsea during the close season, told the club's television channel (MUTV) on Tuesday.

"Personally, Benfica brings me good memories". The Eagles also enjoyed some success in Europe, reaching the Champions League quarter-finals in the 2015/2016 campaign, while they were stopped in the last 16 stage last time out.

"Despite these good memories I don't want to be overconfident".

"CSKA are ranked by the Euro Club Index as the second-best team in the group so an away win for United against them was an excellent result".

Filling the gaps left by Victor Lindelof, Ederson, Nelson Semedo and Konstantinos Mitroglou is proving to be hard for manager Rui Vitoria, who will also be without the suspended André Almeida for Wednesday's clash.
