World number one Rafael Nadal beat Nick Kyrgios 6-2 6-1 in the China Open final to win his sixth title of the season.

Meanwhile, Nadal, with his latest win, extended his own lead ahead of Federer at the top of the rankings to follow up his US Open win, as the pair continue to do battle for the year-end No. 1 spot having shared the Slams among themselves.

"I have lot of respect for Nick, he's one of the players with more talent on the tour", Nadal, considered one of the best players ever, said.

Kyrgios offered Nadal eight break points in the first set with Nadal taking two service breaks. The 16-time grand slam victor will take on Australian Nick Kyrgios in Sunday's final as the eighth seed progressed to his first final of the season after beating German second seed Alexander Zverev 6-3 7-5 in the last four.

In 2014, a teenaged Kyrgios burst into the limelight when he upset Nadal 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 in the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon. "I was a little bit more aggressive and that was the key". "She deserved to win today".

Ostapenko entered the semifinal without the loss of a set during the week.

Halep's best opportunity to rebound against Garcia ended when she failed to make good on any of the nine break points she had at 3-3 in the second set. The last time he won at least six titles in a year was in 2013 when he captured 10 trophies for the season.

"It was such an awesome two weeks, it went so fast, I have the feeling I started these tournaments yesterday or two days ago".

Garcia saved a match point in her three-set quarterfinal victory over third-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine. I've been asking myself that question for the last couple of years. Kyrgios had the control and would have finished the play easily had there not been a wrong call.

The 22-year-old firebrand hopes everything will be under way by the time the Australian Open starts and he is already in negotiations to see if the Victorian government or local councils would provide support. He won his first in his Beijing debut in 2005.

Nadal extended his winning streak to 12 after easing past Kyrgios 6-2, 6-1 in what turned out to be a one-sided summit clash in Beijing on Sunday.
