The entire operation includes over 100 turbines and will generate enough clean energy to power more than 330,000 homes.

The video might be for fun, but Amazon's serious about the wind farm. "We'd like to thank the leaders at [Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE)], the Scurry County community, and our partners across the country who are helping us continue to bring new renewable energy online".

With its opening, the mega retailer now has 18 wind and solar projects in operation and 35 more that it plans to build. The Texas project follows Amazon-commissioned wind farms built in Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.

"Investing in renewable energy is a win-win-win-win - it's right for our customers, our communities, our business, and our planet", said Kara Hurst, Amazon's Worldwide Director of Sustainability.

The Amazon Wind Farm Texas is owned and operated by Lincoln Clean Energy, and the entire project took only a little over a year to complete. "These are important steps toward reaching our long-term goal to power our global infrastructure using 100 percent renewable energy", she added.

Texas is home to much of that legacy power, thanks to its massive oil industry. But Amazon's Snyder location is one of the state's hotbeds of wind power generation, which is the fastest growing industry in Snyder and Scurry County, according to the municipality's website.

Vestas has teamed up with Australian clean energy company Windlab to develop the Kennedy Energy Park phase 1 in north Queensland - a region blessed by "world class" wind and solar resources, Vestas said.

Towards the end of previous year, America's first offshore wind farm commenced commercial operations. So far, the company has committed to purchase more than 2.5 GW of renewable energy projects.
