Justin Timberlake to headline Super Bowl LII halftime show

The performance went off without a hitch until the end, when Timberlake ripped a plate off of Jackson's top, exposing her breast on national television.

Justin Timberlake announced on Twitter on Sunday night that he will headline the halftime show at this season's Super Bowl in Minneapolis.

Timberlake first performed at Super Bowl XXXVIII alongside Jessica Simpson, Janet Jackson, P. Diddy, Nelly, and Kid Rock. Timberlake was most recently nominated for an Academy Award® for the song "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!" from the film Trolls for which he won his 10th Grammy. He has also won four Emmys for his appearances on "Saturday Night Live.' Timberlake is a co-star of the upcoming film Wonder Wheel, which opens later this year".

He previously performed at Super Bowl XXXV in 2001 with his band *NSYNC. Previous halftime headliners include Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Madonna.

Next year's Super Bowl LII is set for February 4 at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

This will be Timberlake's third Super Bowl halftime performance, the most for any entertainer.

The last time he played the Super Bowl halftime show, the term "wardrobe malfunction" dominated the reviews.

NBC will broadcast the 52nd Super Bowl.

At that point, Fallon catches on and exclaims, "You're doing the halftime show at the Super Bowl?!"

It is immediately unclear whether anyone will join Timberlake on the halftime stage.
