NY police said Thursday they have reopened a investigation into allegations of a 2004 sexual assault by disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hosts the Oscars, described the sexual abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein as "repugnant" and "abhorrent" and said that it would be holding a meeting on Saturday to discuss any action to be taken. He said he assumed they involved consensual affairs because Harvey Weinstein had insinuated that he was a philanderer.

Though dozens of women have told stories of sexual predation by the Hollywood mogul in the past week, beginning with reports in the New York Times and the New Yorker that blew the story open, Weinstein has never been criminally charged.

As more celebrities came forward Wednesday to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct, the ousted studio executive said he's "hanging in there" - and would like another chance to prove himself. "I found that it's quite easy not to masturbate in front of my employees, in fact its one of the easiest things I don't do". However, when she arrived at the location, the receptionist told her to go to his hotel room.

"At first he started talking about career stuff, and how he wanted to fly me to NY and give me a role in Sarah Jessica Parker's new film", Barth recalled on CNN's New Day morning show.

Weinstein and his brother Bob, co-founders of Miramax Films, burst onto the indie scene with "Sex, Lies and Videotape" in 1989 and turned relatively low-budget films like "Shakespeare in Love" and "Pulp Fiction" into huge box-office hits.

Beckinsale recalls that a few years later Weinstein asked her if he had tried anything with her at the first meeting. Male actors, including James Van Der Beek and Terry Crews, have also tweeted about their experiences and why victims often feel powerless to come forward. She says she realized "he couldn't remember if he had assaulted me or not".

After the episode, Maerov said, Harvey Weinstein refused to let the board review his personnel file directly. "It's really inspiring to see that in a young woman".

In the audio of their conversation which was released by the magazine, Weinstein can be heard apologizing for grabbing her breast and then repeatedly pressuring her to come into his hotel room.

In response to the lengthy allegations made against Weinstein in the New Yorker and New York Times pieces, a spokesperson for Weinstein said, "Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein".

Authorities in NY and London are looking into possible criminal sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

"Guys, I'm not doing OK, but I'm trying", Weinstein told reporters on Wednesday as he entered an SUV parked outside his daughter's Los Angeles home. "You know what, we all make mistakes", he's seen saying in a TMZ video.
