Demi Lovato has been vocal about her struggles with addiction, bipolar disorder and bulimia, but a new before and after photo shows just how far the singer has come her road to recovery.

In an interview promoting the series, Demi admitted that she found it hard speaking about the less than stable nature of her recovery because she felt it would compromise her position as a role model to so many young fans.

In a truly powerful moment while driving in the vehicle with her manager Phil, Demi opened up about her continuing struggle with binging.

In the "Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated" documentary, she admitted she is "open to human connection" on dating apps and says she has "always felt" open to dating both men and women. "I see a therapist twice a week, I make sure I stay on my medications, I go to AA meetings, I do what I can physically in the gym, you know, I make it a priority". I feel like it's irrelevant to what my music is all about.

"The most important thing to Demi is losing people, losing people that she cares about and that love her", Bayer said.

Demi Lovato has opened up about her love life in a revealing new documentary. "I think it was with Wilmer, it is with Wilmer, and I think it will be with Wilmer, because you don't share six years with somebody and not give them a piece of your heart", she added. I met him on January 11 of 2010, and it was at a PSA shoot at his house for the 2010 census forms. In the film, Lovato explained that she went three years without purging (self-induced vomiting) while dating actor Wilmer Valderrama.

"This was attractive. I'm so happy for you. I just wasn't ready, and there was so much of my life that I hadn't explored yet".

On what caused her to relapse with her eating disorder: "What started the relapse was missing Wilmer. We talked on the plane for two hours", a conversation that Lovato doesn't even remember having. "I love who I love and I feel like I look at everybody who is outspoken about who they are as an inspiration and that's it".
