Dejan Lovren: Romelu Lukaku 'stamp' deliberate

Veteran pundit Richard Keys has reportedly stepped up to defend striker Romelu Lukaku after his significantly boring display against Liverpool on Saturday.

If Lukaku did deliberately connect with Lovren's face, he's incredibly lucky to avoid action from the FA.

The United striker's boot appeared to make contact with Lovern's head during the first half of the match, but the incident went unpunished by the referee - with the FA also ruling out further action.

Yet the clash was still at the forefront of Lovren's thoughts as he spoke before Liverpool's Champions League game away to Maribor tonight and insisted that Lukaku could easily have...

Lovren was quoted by the BBC saying: "My honest view is that he did it on goal". I saw that he was nervous during the game so maybe that was the reason.

"It's over and I cannot change it and nobody can change it".

Asked whether he was disappointed that Lukaku had escaped punishment, the 28-year-old added: "That happened on the pitch and it is over". "When I was at Everton we had a different mindset going into games".

Manchester United are now in second place in the Premier League table, and two points behind leaders Manchester City.

"I know everybody is thinking ahead of a game like this that this is the place where you should rotate or whatever", Klopp told a news conference. "Now I am in a team where we want to win against the big teams and we want to win every game, so I think the situation will change". I had issues with my back and groin a couple of weeks ago, last week even.

Not only was Liverpool versus Manchester United one of the most tiresome and underwhelming games of the Premier League season so far, we're *still* talking about it.

"I was struggling, but now it's over and I'm feeling good, feeling fit".
