Cher Dances Her Way Into 'Mamma Mia!' Sequel

It's been reported that music icon, Cher, has joined the cast of Universals' upcoming sequel, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!

The BBC reports that the plot will focus on the relationships between the characters played by Streep, Brosnan and Colin Firth in their youth.

"Speaking to BANG Showbiz, he said: "'Mamma Mia 2' is in the works.

She revealed her involvement on Twitter yesterday, having previously teased the role with a series of cryptic posts that featured a pair of elaborate boots and the song title "Fernando".

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is touted for release on July 20 2018.

Newcomers in the film franchise are Andy Garcia, Lily James, Alexa Davies, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Jeremy Irvine, Josh Dylan and Hugh Skinner.

Cher's last movie role came in 2010, when she co-starred in "Burlesque" with Christina Aguilera.

Many stars of the original film are set to return, including Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Dame Julie Walters. The film, titled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, is now in production for a release in 2018.

Based on a stage musical of the same name, Mamma Mia centred around a wedding on a Greek island, to which the bride has invited three men she believes could be her father.
