Breast cancer death rates dropping

Throughout the month of October, Chloe Wines, featured at all Bar Louie locations, will be donating $2 for each bottle of Chloe Chardonnay sold that month, up to $40,000, to benefit the BCCA and its efforts to eliminate breast cancer as a life-threatening illness.

The bad news is that a racial disparity still exists in breast cancer death rates. "But the figure may be higher as it is estimated that 1 -1.4 million breast cancer cases go undetected".

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, two people who know the struggles of dealing with the disease are making an effort to help find a cure. The stamps may also be purchased by phone, 800-STAMP-24 (800-782-6724), or online here.

Apart from the hospital staff, various breast cancer survivors and citizens attended the awareness programme.

The Cancer Society said the funds help to provide free care for terminally ill patients. "And today, they go above and beyond the call of duty to raise awareness about breast cancer".

"I'm honored to stand with the men and women who wear the uniform to protect and serve us", Polito said.

The BCCA's mission is to eliminate breast cancer by focusing on educating, empowering and encouraging all women to become proactive in preventing and, if diagnosed, surviving breast cancer.

"Early detection, regular mammograms". She said she has previously worked with the Cancer Support Center in Homewood, Ill.

But breast cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of cancer.

Although risks for breast cancer include factors that can not be changed (such as being female, age and family history), there are some actions that may reduce a woman's risk of getting breast cancer.

"I always say Lexi's mom was my angel, because had it not been for her, I would have never done a self-breast exam".

On the forefront of cancer treatment for many years, St. Vincent Anderson was one of the first hospitals in the United States to offer a five-day treatment for breast cancer, available through its Cancer Center.
