The Volunteers (3-2, 0-2 SEC) were off this weekend - but not out of action.

Arkansas (2-3, 0-2 SEC) was outscored 31-12 in the second half of the game against the Gamecocks, thanks in large part to three turnovers that SC returned for touchdowns. The Gamecocks are coming off their own seven-point defeat at the hands of Texas A&M, and were equally disappointed after failing to sufficiently protect quarterback Jake Bentley, who was sacked seven times. A few garbage-time drives padded Razorback totals; the third quarter ended with the Gamecocks ahead 34-10 and Arkansas with only 153 yards of offense.

Arkansas plays at Alabama on Saturday.

"Defensively, we had some huge plays with turnovers", Muschamp said. "Certainly we have them this year and we spent a lot of time preparing for them through the summer because they are so different for us defensively". It's not going to happen. "I don't know what it is, but we've got to get our stuff together".

"It's something I believe everybody has to work on individually".

Before the Gamecocks pulled their starters near the start of the fourth quarter, Arkansas was averaging 2.8 yards per carry and just 3.1 yards a play.

It was a long day for Arkansas starting quarterback Austin Allen, who completed just 12 of 24 passes for 84 yards and a pick.

A late fourth-quarter fumble against TCU last month gave the Horned Frogs possession inside the red zone and resulted in a touchdown the next play. He also threw an interception returned for a score. Central at South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium with a 60 percent chance of rain in the forecast at kickoff, diminishing to 30 percent in the second half. It was the biggest margin since Furman in 2014, and largest SEC win since USC crushed Arkansas 52-7 in 2013.

Early in the second quarter, Williams appeared to score, catching and running for a 23-yard score. The Razorbacks rushed for 218 yards in the game but had 3 turnovers, an interception and 2 lost fumbles. Or maybe a Division III team could have slowed them down a little bit better than we did. "People have been telling me so it's been on my mind".

Amusing how football fortunes can spin on one two-minute drill, even within a performance highlighted by three touchdowns on defense.

"It takes the pressure off of us", Bentley said of the defense.

"I feel like that's what Coach B brought me here for", said Williams, "to make plays, and the more opportunities I get, the more I can make plays".

"I think that was the chippiness, the anger, even from a coach".

Bentley proceed to drive the Gamecocks 60 yards in 11 plays - capping the drive with a three-yard touchdown pass to running back Ty'Son Williams. Arkansas could have used a win to help hopes in the SEC West after a heartbreaking loss to the Texas A&M Aggies in the conference opener two weeks ago. Sometimes they're flat blown out in the second half.
