Trump denounces 'loser terrorist' after London attack

After the attack in London on Friday, Trump tweeted about "another attack" and suggested the suspect involved in the bombing was "in the sights of Scotland Yard", the UK's Metropolitan Police Service.

At an event at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Trump said he offered prayers for London and said "radical Islamic terrorism ... it will be eradicated, believe me".

He added: "The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific - but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!" "Must be proactive!" Trump tweeted.

According to The New York Times, Trump's tweets only add to the strain that's been buckling the U.S. and UK's special relationship.

Many British reporters and members of the public have taken issue with Trump's tweets, particularly the implication that he knows something about the attackers that the rest of the United Kingdom doesn't - and perhaps shouldn't.

"The joint terrorism and analysis centre, the independent organisation responsible for setting the threat level on the basis of available intelligence has now made a decision to raise it from severe to critical", May announced.

He also tied his demand for a more robust travel ban to an unusual claim that Scotland Yard was familiar with Friday's bombers ahead of time and missed the chance to catch them before he launched the attack. Officials confirmed it as a terrorist attack, which is the fifth in Britain in 2017.

"I think he means generally that this kind of activity is what we are trying to prevent", McMaster said.

"We have to be tougher and we have to be smarter", Trump told reporters before going into the Oval Office. We need the courts to give us back our rights.

Trump has repeatedly pointed to his travel ban as a cornerstone of his counterterrorism platform. Trump said Thursday he was "fairly close" to an agreement that could protect these so-called "dreamers" while also adding border security, as long as his wall with Mexico would be separately addressed.

Recently, the Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to maintain its ban on refugees. "We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!" he wrote on June 3.
