Target is stocking its stores and warehouses with even more extra staff this holiday shopping season, hoping to win customers with easy-to-find goods and fast service. Target is hiring more than 100,000 temporary workers for the holidays - a sharp increase over previous year.

It's hiring 100,000 people to work at its more than 1,800 stores during its busiest time, up 40 percent from past year. Prices at the retail giant are decreasing and the red-vested workforce is increasing by 100,000 this holiday season.

The company will hold a nationwide hiring event October 13-15 at all of its 1,816 stores.

Target will offer certain benefits to the seasonal workers, including market-competitive wages, a 10 percent merchandise discount at Target and Target.com, and an additional 20 percent merchandise wellness discount for fruits and vegetables, as well as all Simply Balanced and C9 merchandise.
