Riverdale star KJ Apa was involved in a auto accident in Vancouver last week. KJ was taken to a local hospital for observation, and was discharged without serious injuries.

Cast and crew members of Riverdale wouldn't be alone in voicing complaints about set safety issues that include long hours, early call times, and "stringent transportation requirements", as noted by THR - this, in the wake of recent stunt accidents on The Walking Dead and Deadpool 2.

Deadline reports that K.J. Apa, who plays Archie on the CW drama, crashed a rental auto into a lamp post after he fell asleep at the wheel following a 16-hour shoot. Apa apparently crashed into a light pole, which wrecked the passenger side of his auto.

Actor Cole Sprouse, who co-stars as Jughead, had reportedly planned to ride home with Apa that night, but backed out "at the last minute".

"They're working these kids from morning until night". The show does not provide transportation for the actors to and from set. "Someone's going to die".

Apa chose to do the drive and ended up totaling his vehicle in the crash.

Apa, Warner Bros and The CW were yet to speak publicly about the incident.

Reportedly, the actors' representatives will have a meeting with Warner Bros.to discuss this on Friday, September 22.

Riverdale, a breakout hit for network The CW, is now shooting its second season after the first became a hit with critics and viewers. The live-action adaptation of the Archie Comics (which airs on The CW in the US and as a Netflix Original series elsewhere) had an incredible first season, winning multiple awards and gaining a significant fandom for its murder-mystery take on the classic comic book property.
