However, with time, Rahul seems to have reconciled to the fact that dynasties can not be wished away, surrounded as he is in Lok Sabha by young colleagues who hail from old Congress families. Rahul Gandhi cited the example of megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his son, actor Abhishek while explaining "dynasty legacy", during a talk at Berkeley University during his visit to the US.

To Rahul Gandhi's statement that dynastic succession is the way "most India runs", Shah said that BJP has removed dynastic politics from India as it believes in the politics of performance.

Ravi Shankar Prasad said "Rahul Gandhi is breaking the well-laid tradition of Indian polity -that is when you go overseas, you don't speak ill about the government".

Rahul Gandhi's strong defence of being a political dynast and seeming comfort with what he earlier saw as an insinuation marks a shift in his position on the issue that rivals have used to beat him with for over a decade.

He was reported to have said, "Most parties in India have that problem..." So, that's how India runs.

In a series of tweets, Kapoor attacked Gandhi, asking him to not "bullshit people on dynasty". In the 106 years of Indian cinema of India, Kapoor's contribution is 90 years.

Just as the nepotism debate was dying down, Rahul Gandhi seems to have ignited the topic once again by adding fuel to the fading fire and this has irked veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. "And each generation is chosen by public on merit (sic)". He wrote, "By God's grace we are in 4 generations". Besides all others. You see otherwise", "So don't bull**it people on "dynasty".

Earlier on Tuesday, responding to a question that there was a perception that the Congress was patronizing dynastic politics, Rahul Gandhi amused the audience saying Akhilesh Yadav, Stalin, Abhishek Bachchan, the children of Ambani etc. are all dynasts.

When one Twitter user tried to remind Rishi Kapoor about the "privileges" the actor was born with, Rishi got even more furious.
