Police release disturbing CCTV footage of the moment Drake's friend was murdered

Anthony Soares, a longtime friend of rapper Drake, was shot and killed in Toronto last week.

Well, TMZ has obtained footage of the crime and published the video this week.

Soares was shot dead on September 14, 2017 by two men inside a Toronto, Canada high-rise lobby.

One of the men could be seen wiping finger prints from the door and firing one final shot before they both fled in a white Ford Fusion driven by a third suspect.

According to reports, police have no suspects.

Drake mourned the loss of his friend in a heartfelt Instagram post last week.

"RIP to one of our family members.our brother", the rapper wrote.

'It was a honor to have shared years together and I will always keep your memory alive... He was rushed to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities have made the decision to release the disturbing footage in a bid to identify the killers, with Homicide Detective Sergeant Gary Giroux explaining: "In essence, the deceased was trapped between the inner foyer area and the offenders, who were on the opposite side of the glass". Drake commemorated his friend with a new tattoo of a realistic portrait of Fif, and today the details of the 33-year-old's tragic death were shared.

"Drake was a friend of his", he said.

Police don't believe the killing was gang related.

"Certainly, it was very targeted", Giroux said of the shooting. It was very focused.

Giroux said he hoped the superstar would use his social media platforms to aid in the investigation into the death of Soares, with whom the victim's family said the rapper was close.

A police spokesperson said the victim got out of a vehicle and walked into the lobby of a building before he was approached by two suspects armed with handguns.
